The League for Innovation in the Community College: The League is an international organization dedicated to catalyzing the community college movement. They host conferences and institutes, develop Web resources, conduct research, produce publications, provide services, and lead projects and initiatives with member colleges, corporate partners, and other agencies in our continuing efforts to make a positive difference for students and communities.

Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C): The purpose of the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is to help learning organizations continually improve quality, scale, and breadth of their online programs according to their own distinctive missions, so that education will become a part of everyday life, accessible and affordable for anyone, anywhere, at any time, in a wide variety of disciplines.

Illinois Online Network (ION): The Illinois Online Network (ION) is a faculty development initiative that provides comprehensive professional development opportunities in the area of online teaching and learning to faculty and staff from higher education institutions in Illinois and beyond. The goals of the ION program are not only to help faculty to develop and deliver courses in a completely online format, but also to produce online courses that incorporate best practices for engaging students in discussion and critical thinking.

Instructional Technology Council: ITC is a leader in advancing distance education. ITC's mission is to provide exceptional leadership and professional development to its network of eLearning experts by advocating, collaborating, researching, and sharing exemplary, innovative practices and potential in learning technologies. ITC tracks federal legislation that will affect distance learning, conducts annual professional development meetings, supports research, and provides a forum for members to share expertise and materials.
  
Publications

The Chronicle of Higher Education: The “Chronicle” is academe’s resource for news and information. The articles focus on the interests of higher education faculty and administrators.

Community College Week: The independent source of in-depth information for and about two-year college faculty, administrators and trustees. Published biweekly, Community College features include analysis of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics, technology updates and employment opportunities.

Campus Technology: Campus Technology is the only monthly publication focusing exclusively on the use of technology across all areas of higher education. Along with text-based articles, there are video interviews and demonstrations of the technologies for discussion, infographics, podcasts, and a great selection of multimedia slideshows.

American Journal of Distance Education: The American Journal of Distance Education (AJDE) is the internationally recognized journal of research and scholarship in the field of American distance education.

  
Instructional Resources

MERLOT: A free and open resource designed primarily for faculty and students of higher education. Links to online learning materials are collected here along with annotations such as peer reviews and assignments.

World Lecture Hall: The World Lecture Hall contains links to pages created by faculty worldwide who are using the Web to deliver class materials. The site contains examples of online course syllabi, assignments, lecture notes, exams, class calendars, multimedia, and textbooks.

Teacher Tube: TeacherTube is a video sharing website similar to, and based on, YouTube. It is designed to allow those in the educational industry, particularly teachers, to share educational resources (video, audio, documents, photos, groups and blogs) designed to aid teacher training.

QOCI: Quality Online Course Initiative: ION and the Illinois Virtual Campus have taken the lead to develop a quality online course rubric and evaluation system in the state of Illinois. The goal of this project is to help colleges and universities to improve accountability of their online courses.

Effective Practices: To help make quality online education accessible and affordable for anyone, anywhere, at any time, the Sloan-C community shares techniques, strategies, and practices in online education that have worked for them.

CELT: CELT has been established to encourage and support the exceptional teaching and scholarship of the faculty at Lincoln Land Community College through various activities.
