Designing and Developing Interactive Course Materials Using SoftChalk

Facilitator: Barry Lamb

In this instructor-led online workshop, participants will learn how to use SoftChalk Lesson Builder to create engaging and interactive web-based lessons. Topics covered in this workshop will include an overview of the software, how to build and publish a basic lesson, and how to add media and interactive activities. This workshop will be conducted entirely online over the course of one week.

Using The Advanced Functions in Blackboard

In this workshop participants will discuss frequently overlooked, but extremely powerful tools, available in Blackboard. Topics such as course reports and statistics, the Early Warning System, Performance Dashboard, and course event notifications will be presented.

This workshop series will provide participants with hands-on instruction on the primary steps involved in developing instructional videos. The series will consist of four sequential sessions covering:

  • Planning an instructional video – Tuesday, 2/21
  • Filming for instruction – Tuesday, 2/28
  • Basic video editing – Tuesday, 3/13
  • Developing a video delivery channel – Tuesday, 3/20

Participation in all four sessions is essential to successful completion of the series.

The Wide World of Widgets

This session will offer an overview of widgets, small applications that can be installed and extracted within a web page, and how they can apply to education.  This session will include demonstration and discussion about web widgets and information for using widgets in education. Specific information will be provided on how to use a widget within the Blackboard system, as well as where to find free educational widgets.
