Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review/discussion sessions for students taking historically difficult courses.  SI gives students an opportunity to get together with people in their class to compare notes, discuss important concepts, to develop strategies for studying the subject, and to test each other before the professor does.

Each SI study group is lead by a competent student who has previously taken the course and serves as a "model" student to help others integrate content and study skills.  The leader facilitates the study sessions by using probing and redirecting techniques to help students develop the critical thinking skills appropriate for the course.
