The Writing Center provides several methods for improving a student's writing skills.

  • Relaxed one-on-one assistance
  • Immediate and specific feedback
  • Positive encouragement
  • Professional advice on revisions
  • Focused study on chronic errors

The Writing Center encourages repeat visits. The center is staffed by writing professionals and full time faculty.  The same teachers found in LLCC composition classes are in the Writing Center and available for one-on-one appointments.

Effective expression of one's thoughts in writing is vital to success at the college level.  The Learning Lab's Writing Center is a free service offered to LLCC students  providing extra assistance for writing assignments.  The Writing Center staff is willing to help with any writing assignment in any class, significant correspondence, resumes, and scholarship applications.

Many times the secret to better grades is knowing when to ask for help.  The Writing Center has found that most students become frustrated with writing assignments for many of the same reasons.

  • "I can't get started."
  • "I don't know what to write about."
  • "My grammar is incorrect."
  • "My content is filler."
  • "I don't know how to use citations."
  • "I can't write a research paper."

These are a few of the many good reasons to visit the Writing Center and get past writing anxiety by receiving a fresh perspective from writing professionals, faculty members and peers.
