9/8 - LLCC welcomes Venturing/Exploring: Career & Activity Exploration Fair Tues., Sept. 9 Back |
Engineering Explorer Post 6, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation District 6, is hosting a Venturing & Exploring Open House: “A Career & Activity Exploration Fair” on Tuesday, September 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Trutter Center. This open house is an opportunity to explain Exploring and Venturing to both high school students and their parents.
Exploring is a worksite-based program. It is part of the Boy Scouts of America’s Learning for Life career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. The purpose of this program is to give students practical “hands-on” experience in various professional fields (engineering, law, law enforcement, firefighting, medicine, aviation, computers, etc.) and an opportunity to spend time with and be mentored by practicing professionals.
Venturing is a program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocations or hobby interests, such as outdoor high adventure, astronomy, and many others. Both Exploring and Venturing programs emphasize community service.
