In observance of National Small Business Week, the United States Small Business Administration will host “Meet the Lenders,” a lender and business matchmaking event, on Tuesday, May 6 from 2-5 p.m. at the Prairie Capital Convention Center. Co-sponsors of the event include the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Lincoln Land Community College, SCORE and GrowthCorp.
“’Meet the Lenders’ provides an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs and those thinking about starting a small business to gather loan information and meet one-on-one with loan officers,” said Val Ross, branch manager of the SBA. "With over a dozen lenders attending, there is no better place for potential business owners to gauge their chances for receiving the funding they need to get started."
Kevin Lust, director of the ISBDC at LLCC, encouraged individuals to bring business plans and to be prepared to discuss business loan proposals with lenders, but added "Even without a completed plan, entrepreneurs can get valuable feedback from experts who helped hundreds of people realize their dream of owning their own business."
At the event, representatives of the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on loan programs available to small businesses from federal, state and community agencies. Attendees can talk with Mr. Lust about starting a business, along with representatives of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Advantage Illinois program, 504 program large asset lender Growth Corp, microlender ACCION, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Illinois Ventures for Community Action, SCORE and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center at Western Illinois University.
The agenda includes welcoming remarks from 2-2:15; loan program information from 2:15-3 p.m. and an opportunity to meet the lenders and resource partners from 3-5 p.m.
There is no fee to attend. Seating is limited and reservations are requested by emailing Stephanie.Schatz @sba.gov or by calling 793.5020, extension 114.
