Eleven second-year nursing students at Lincoln Land Community College were inducted April 17 into the first class of the new LLCC Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Delta Nu, national nursing honor society.
The honorees were Christina M. Hornback, Jessica Marie Russell, Courtney L. Conn, Julia L. DeWeese, Anna Jo King, Megan Elaine Strohm and Ashley M. Taylor, all of Springfield; Kassandra L. Barry and Melanie J. Yancey of Chatham; Sarah Elizabeth Bradley of Williamsville; and Jessica N. Otter of Hillsboro.
Dr. Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions at LLCC, congratulated the students, calling them the “cream of the crop” in the nursing program. Herself a graduate of the LLCC associate degree nursing program, she urged them to be strategic as they pursue careers in nursing.
Dr. Pam Bradley, LLCC professor of nursing and faculty advisor of the new chapter, said the inductees qualified for the honor society by exhibiting high scholarship, dedication and integrity. The students were required to earn above a 3.0 grade point average in nursing courses and participate in a community education teaching project.
The ceremony featured a demonstration of nursing symbols including the nurse’s cap, pin and lamp.
