Lincoln Land Community College’s College for Kids (CFK) program is offering a variety of fun, educational opportunities for youth this summer at its Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road. Registrations are being accepted now. New online registration is available.
Classes are being held Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and are designed for students who have completed kindergarten through eighth grades as of spring 2017. Session dates are July 10-13, July 17-20 and July 24-27. Students may register for one or more sessions. Cost for each one-week CFK session is $125. Weeklong culinary sessions for grades 4-7 are $185.
Classes being offered this summer include: All Systems Go, American Sign Language, Backyard Ballistics, Brothers Grimm, Candy Chemistry, Cake Design, Dragon Genetics, Finance and Success, French Cuisine, Greek to Me, LEGO® Engineers, Native Americans of Illinois, Olympiad, Owl Post, Paint Adventure Through Time, Powerful Potions, Rocketry and more.
In addition, other youth programs being offered include: Wizard’s Cooking School (June 19-22) for students who have completed grades 8-12; STEM Smarts (June 26-29) a full-day STEM camp for grades 1-3 and 4-6; and PADI Seal Team (July 17-20) for ages 8-12, which is being held at Adventure Dive and Travel. This year, Black Rocket has expanded technology camp offerings including Lego®, Minecraft® and Star Wars® themes. Six one-week Black Rocket camps are being offered in June and July for ages 8-11 and 12-15 with morning and afternoon sessions available.
