Lincoln Land Community College invites the public to its 10th annual Lincoln Lecture Monday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. in the Robert H. Stephens Room of Menard Hall on the Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.
James M. Cornelius, Ph.D., curator of the Lincoln Collection at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, will speak on the topic, “Abraham Lincoln: Nature Boy or Science Drone.”
Dr. Cornelius, a native of Minneapolis, worked for 10 years as an editor in New York City at Doubleday, Random House and Collier’s Encyclopedia, then for eight years in the University of Illinois Library’s Illinois History and Lincoln Collections.

He has written or edited several books, mainly on American and British history, especially Lincoln. Most recently he co-authored the official commemorative guide to the Presidential Museum; oversaw publication and introduced ”Gettysburg Replies,” a showcase of original short essays by 100 famous people, including five former presidents, writing about Lincoln or a related current topic; and co-authored “Under Lincoln’s Hat: 100 Objects that Tell the Story of His Life and Legacy.” He is currently serving as a member of the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial Commission.
