The LLCC Surgical Technology program has received the annual merit award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting for achieving a 100 percent pass rate on the 2015-16 Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination.
Graduates obtaining national certification as a CST demonstrate, by examination, understanding of the basic competencies for safe patient care in the operating room. The CST is recognized in the health care community as the foremost credential for surgical technologists and is required for employment within many health care organizations.
Certification as a surgical technologist exhibits professional pride, the desire to be recognized for mastery of surgical competencies, and an ongoing commitment to quality patient care.
The LLCC Surgical Technology program offers students the opportunity to earn an associate in applied science degree in Surgical Technology and a certificate of completion in Central Sterile Service Technician. LLCC also offers a transition program for individuals already certified as surgical technologists who want to earn an associate in applied science degree in the subject.
Graduates obtain jobs as certified surgical technologists in operating rooms, delivery rooms, ambulatory care centers, physician offices and central sterile departments.
