SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College is offering the community education workshop “Illinois in the Great War” on Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at LLCC-Taylorville, 800 S. Spresser. Dr. Chris McDonald, LLCC professor of political science, will review the role central Illinois, the state and its soldiers played in World War I and their deployment to France in 1918.
Professor McDonald shares his interest in World War I and educates others through a variety of activities, including authoring books, leading study abroad trips, providing community presentations and participating in discussions boards about the war. McDonald received his undergraduate degree in international relations and strategic studies from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from the University of Georgia.
