The James S. Murray Gallery at Lincoln Land Community College is featuring the photography exhibit, “Chasing Dr. Who,” by local photographer Christine Samoore June 5-29. The exhibit is open for viewing Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the LLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road. A reception for the artist is being held Thursday, June 8 from noon-1:30 p.m. at the gallery.
In 2013, Samoore and her husband took a trip to Britain, specifically to stake out places featured on the British show, “Dr. Who.” Whereas, the uninitiated might not recognize the show’s landmarks, Christine’s pictures are also individual studies of architecture and composition. Samoore states, “Photography has always been an intrinsic part of my life. While I can’t recall the first photo I ever took and have only vague fleeting memories of my first camera, I cannot conceive my life without it.”
Samoore is co-owner of Prairie Custom Frames in Springfield, and you can often find her interpreting in American Sign Language in classrooms at LLCC. She shows her photography at shows around the Midwest.
