A variety of Lincoln Land Community College community education opportunities are available at LLCC-Jacksonville and LLCC-Beardstown during the spring semester. These personal enrichment, non-credit courses cover such topics as the Italian language, iOS devices, knitting, safety and ghost hunting.
Courses available at LLCC-Jacksonville:
Ghost Hunting 101 will be held Tuesdays, Jan. 16-Feb. 6, from 6-8 p.m. in room 1128. This course provides a deeper insight into the world of the paranormal as participants learn about best practices for ghost hunting, investigating and reviewing evidence. Respected investigators guide participants through the essential characteristics and scientific methodology of paranormal investigation. The fee is $49.
Conversational Italian is offered on Tuesdays, Jan. 23-Feb. 27, from 6-8 p.m. in room 1136. Participants can learn a bit of this beautiful language while gaining an appreciation of the history and culture. Students will learn effective conversational skills, pronunciation, key phrases, numbers, telling time, self-introductions and basic information relative to travel. The fee is $95. In addition, a textbook is required and may be purchased from the LLCC Bookstore.
iPhone and iOS – Tips and Tricks will take place Tuesdays, Feb. 13-27, from 7-8 p.m. in room 1128. This class will cover basics and some advanced features of iOS devices, including iPhones, iPods and iPads. Participants will learn how to get the best experience from their devices. Students should bring their fully charged Apple devices with iOS 10 or later installed and know all information pertaining to accounts (i.e., Apple ID, iCloud, Google) saved on the device. The fee is $29.
Knitting a Hat is offered on Tuesdays, April 3-24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in room 1128. In this class, participants will learn basics of knitting in the round, cables, increases and decreases. Supplies needed include a 16-inch circular knitting needle (size 7), a set of four double-pointed knitting needles (size 7), all preferably bamboo and one skein of 100 percent wool yarn (minimum 200 yards). Pattern will be provided. The fee is $39.
Refusing to be a Victim will be held on Tuesdays, May 15-22, from 6-8 p.m. in room 1128. Learn safety tips and techniques for avoiding dangerous situations and not becoming a victim. Topics covered include home, personal, automobile, workplace and technology security. The fee is $29.

iPhone and iOS – Tips and Tricks is offered Tuesdays, April 3-17, 7-8 p.m. in room 103. See description above.
Ghost Hunting 102 will take place Wednesdays, April 4-18, from 6-7:30 p.m. in room 114. This course provides the full investigative experience and analysis of an actual site visit. Participants develop an investigation plan and learn techniques for reviewing evidence. One session includes a visit to a field destination which is thought to be haunted in order to observe, record and verify unusual phenomenon.
