Are you, a family member, friend or co-worker thinking about college? If so there are likely a number of questions such as where to attend, what to study, how to pay for it all?
Come to Lincoln Land Community College tomorrow for our tri-annual Campus Visit Day event. We are rolling out the red carpet for our visitors. In a two-hour span we will provide you with the information you need about the ins and outs of starting or restarting college. You will also have an opportunity to tour our main academic buildings and our state-of-the-art Workforce Careers Center.
Our entire Commons area will be filled with LLCC faculty and staff showcasing the many opportunities available to you at the college. Talk to professors who are experts in their fields. Take a career assessment that identifies your strengths and what major you might pursue. Get assistance in applying for admission, filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and applying for LLCC Foundation scholarships. Learn about the many free support services LLCC offers to help students succeed. And enjoy treats made by our culinary students!
Prospective students of all ages are welcome, and feel free to bring family members. We know how important friends and family are in supporting college students through the rigors of attaining their education. During their visit, they may even find a community education (non-credit) course they’re interested in taking.
The morning session is from 10 a.m. to noon and the evening session is from 5-7 p.m. We would appreciate it if you would pre-register for your preferred session at www.llcc.edu/campus-visit-day.
Whether you want to earn an associate degree that will transfer to a four-year college or university, pursue a career/technical degree or certificate that leads directly to employment, or take a class or two to advance in your education or job, we believe LLCC is an “educated decision.”
Here’s a comment a student recently posted to the LLCC Facebook page:
“Hopefully this catches the eye of a parent or a potential student on the fence. While wrapping up the first half of the semester I can only sing praises about LLCC. The faculty is beyond kind, talented and helpful. The professors are as good as you’ll find at any university. I truly believe that. Two years in, almost done and still find myself amazed at how fun and challenging a day on the campus is.”
When asked about their experience at LLCC, a student recently told us, “Everyone at LLCC is focused on helping you succeed. It’s not just, ‘go to class’ and ‘go home.’ The support is here. Everyone is dedicated to helping you figure out what you want to do and helping you get there.”
For two years in a row, we’ve been named the Best College/University in this newspaper’s Readers’ Choice Awards. We believe that is because we better so many lives in the community through education. It is rare to meet someone in the Springfield area who has not been touched by LLCC in some way. We live our mission every day: to provide district residents with quality educational programs and services that are accessible, affordable and responsive to individual and community needs.
We hope to see you on campus tomorrow!
