Wants to research Alzheimer’s disease
He currently works part time as a CNA (nurse assistant. “After taking care of many patients with Alzheimer’s disease, I have learned how devastating the disease is for the patients and for their families. Tayo refers often to the calendar on his tablet computer in order to keep his schedule organized. Majoring in pre-clinical lab science at LLCC and consistently on the President’s and Vice President’s Lists for high grades, his list of extracurricular activities is impressive: Chemistry Club, Math Club, Student Government Association, Psychology Club, Quiz Bowl, Student United Way, Curriculum Team, Emerging Leaders, Environmental Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Christian Student Fellowship, FCA Loggers for Christ, TRIO and Open Door Mentorship programs.
Determined to succeed
“I came to LLCC determined to be the best student I could be. I am no longer an unprepared, procrastinating student. I am now a mature student leader who is very inquisitive, responsible, organized and dedicated. I have become the best student that I can be and have accomplished more than I could have ever imagined.”
He plans to graduate from LLCC this spring and is applying for a number of summer medical internships before heading to a university this fall to complete his bachelor’s degree.
Many role models
When asked about role models, he named 14 LLCC faculty and staff and came back later with a list of 25. “Tayo is outstanding at everything he does,” says one of those on his list.
“Enrolling into LLCC was the best educational decision that I have ever made,” says Tayo.
