 CRJ 104: Intro to Human Services

This course will study social service organizations, their history, philosophy, and methods of operation.  Emphasis will be placed on the various federal, state, and local organizations such as; Food Stamps, Children and Family Services, Public Aid, and Contact Ministries.  The skills needed by these agencies to deliver services  will also be examined.

Course Objectives:           
Introduce the student to the historical development of social services in the world.  Emphasis will be placed on the England and the Industrial Revolution, The Depression, The  Social Security Act of 1935,  The 1960's Social Movement, and Recent legislation on Social Service Reform Students will learn the various social motivations for assisting the needy, and the methods used in doing so.
