Estate planning seminar to be held at LLCC Sept. 11

Lincoln Land Community College Foundation and Springfield Salvation Army will present a free, live webcast seminar for estate planning professionals featuring noted estate planning expert Roy M. Adams.  “IRS Pushes Taxpayers: Taxpayers Push Back,” will be presented via live webcast Thursday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Trutter Center at Lincoln Land Community College’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield.

This estate-planning seminar is part of the 16th annual conference of The Salvation Army’s Estate and Charitable Gift Planning Institute and will offer continuing education credits.

Featured speaker Roy M. Adams, is a managing member of Roy M. Adams & Associates PLLC, and a partner of Constantine/Cannon LLP.  He conducts an extensive national and international practice in the areas of estate and tax planning and administration and is professor emeritus of estate planning and taxation at Northwestern University School of Law.  Adams will be joined by Eileen B. Trost, a partner at the Chicago office of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP in the firm's Estates and Trusts Group. She concentrates her practice in estate planning, trust and estate administration and related income tax issues. She has extensive experience on all aspects of estate, gift, generation-skipping and personal income-tax planning. This experience includes estate and income taxation of distributions from retirement plans, the use of disclaimers for post-mortem tax planning, estate planning for international clients and sophisticated estate plan drafting.

Adams’ morning sessions will address ethics and alterations in the law due to federal and state court decisions.  After lunch, Trost will present, “A Real World View of Estate Planning for Retirement Benefits.”  Both Adams and Trost will conclude the seminar presenting, “Worrisome Issues in Planning for Retirement Benefits.”

This program has been approved for 6.75 general continuing legal education credits.  Approval for continuing education credits is pending for CFPs, CTFAs and CPEs.  Credits for both ethics and insurance have also been applied for and are pending.

This free, live event is open to attorneys, certified public accountants, financial planners, chartered life underwriters and other investment professionals.  A complimentary lunch is included.
