SPRINGFIELD—The Lincoln Land Community College Loggers volleyball team is hosting its third annual “pink” game in support of breast cancer awareness. The Loggers and Lincoln Lynx will paint Cass Gymnasium pink on Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. on LLCC’s main campus 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield. The public is invited.
Admission to the game is $2 for students or fans wearing pink or $3 for general admission. Proceeds from game admissions and additional donations received at the game will benefit breast cancer support services at the Carol Jo Vecchie Women’s Center at St. John’s Hospital.
LLCC head volleyball coach Jim Dietz began supporting breast cancer awareness when he was a coach at St. Anthony High School-Effingham on behalf of a volleyball player’s mother who died from breast cancer when her daughter was a senior. He has spent time getting other high schools across central Illinois involved in hosting breast cancer awareness games including Charleston/Mattoon, Vandalia/Greenville and Effingham/St. Anthony.
