Talented? Even vaguely? We have JUST the thing for you! LLCC Theatre Club presents Open Mic. Night! November 16, 8pm in Sangamon South (The old automotive garage beneath the police station). Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) Theatre Club invites the public to participate in and see the first event of its kind at Lincoln Land LLCC Theatre Clubs’ Open Mic.
LLCC Theatre Club President Heidi Abegg says, “Come sign up to show your talents, whatever they may be, and have some fun! “ The Open Mic. is envisioned as an opportunity for creative persons to try their craft in an open, relaxed and welcoming environment. It is designed to include all performing arts from music to poetry or anything that is avant-garde!
Sign up starts an hour before the show. All participants have to do is you have to do is put your name on the list and attend the event. “Bring your friends and make a night of it,” says Abegg. “Oh, and we don’t actually have a microphone, but the space is completely open and we can sit close and enjoy the talents we know are out there!”
Assistant professor of theatre, Mark Hardiman, says, “This is exactly the kind of student-generated work we want to see in the next phase of growth for this exciting theatre program. It really helps us embrace our the vision of the program which is to become a hub of activity and engagement both for the college and the broader Springfield region in the celebration of humanity and cultivation of excellence as expressed in the visual and performing arts.”
