Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young "star-cross'd lovers" whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and, along with Hamlet and Macbeth, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers.
Director Kevin Purcell is a founding member of Over the Moon Productions. In 2009 Kevin directed his own adaptation, "Shakespeare Shorts", at TIP. In April 2011, Kevin is bringing Rob Clare (whose credits include Royal Shakespeare Co and Steppenwolf Theater) and Reiko Aylesworth (cast member of "24" Golden Globe-winning TV series) to train the "Romeo and Juliet" cast on "Acting Shakespeare". In 2009, Kevin studied Shakespeare Performance with Patsy Rodenberg (who has worked with Royal Shakespeare Co).
