Key Program Features
Quality sound is vital to the success of any performance. Musicians, actors, broadcasters and speakers all rely on top audio technicians for their live and recorded productions. LLCC’s program prepares students for this demanding and competitive industry. We teach students digital audio and sound design, music theory, music technology hardware and software, acoustics, MIDI sequencing, notation, songwriting and business essentials. Graduates can work for for motion picture, video and sound recording industries; radio and television broadcasting; performing arts companies and more.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for broadcast and sound engineering technicians was $42,550 in May 2016. The job outlook is expected to grow 7 percent through 2024.

Time to completion: 1 year
This program has been articulated with Western Illinois University (WIU) as a 2+2 program if taken as an Associate in Fine Arts–music/audio production certificate in its entirety for completion of a bachelor’s degree in music–music business.
Investment in Your Future
Audio production certificate courses have a standard tuition rate. For the 2020-2021 academic year (fall 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021), these courses have an in-district rate of $133.00 per credit hour. Fees are $11 per credit hour. Private applied music courses (including MUS 133) also have a private applied music fee of $250 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.
