Harness your creative abilities and develop your research and analysis skills.

Express yourself in the creative field of art! LLCC’s art program provides a strong foundation of research, analysis and creative application in design, studio arts and art history. The curriculum is designed to challenge students to utilize all applicable technologies and materials to create works of art and design, while developing creative problem-solving strategies and critical-thinking skills. Art classes offered include ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, two- and three-dimensional design, sculpture and more.

A juried student art exhibit is held annually in LLCC’s Trutter Museum/Murray Gallery providing art students the opportunity to build experience in the art field. Students and the community also have the opportunity to experience the work of various artists through gallery exhibits during the academic year. Students may also find their work as a part of the college’s permanent art collection.

Degrees & Certs

LLCC offers the following programs to prepare students for university transfer and/or career in the art field.

The Associate in Arts degree is designed for transfer to four-year institutions and intended for students majoring in art-related fields, design and education. Students are encouraged to take a creative approach to problem-solving through exploration of the arts and design, as well as fulfilling general education requirements.

The Associate in Fine Arts degree focuses on developing an understanding of the specific discipline of visual arts through the intensive study of technique, history, theory and hands-on approaches to studio work. This program is designed to provide students with the competencies necessary to achieve a smooth transition into a Bachelor of Fine Arts program.

For the 2023-2024 academic year (fall 2023, spring 2024 and summer 2024), ART classes have a tuition rate of $205.50 per credit hour for in-district residents, except ART 101, 110, 204, 205, 208 and 290, which have a standard in-district rate of $137 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.
