Upcoming Massage Therapy Continuing Education Classes
Mother and Baby – 8 CE hours
This class will be a hands-on workshop. Therapists will enhance their skills beyond general approaches for pregnancy massage. They will learn techniques that specifically enhance pregnant and postpartum women’s comfort, health and enjoyment. Therapists will practice propping and draping for comfort of the mother. They will perform and receive feedback in deep tissue, passive movement, myofascial release and other somatic methods modified for emotional and physiological challenges of the childbearing year.

Sports Massage for the Hip & Leg – 6 CE hours
In this class, therapists will learn clinical massage applications for pre-event preparation and post-event treatment. This class will address a variety of techniques and protocols from the plantar surface of the foot all the way through the hips. Modalities such as jostling, kneading, cross-fiber friction and stretching will be used to illustrate the desired results.

Frozen Shoulder – 6 CE hours
Using myofascial release techniques, you will learn a specific treatment plan for frozen shoulder. Clients who present with frozen shoulder complain of a painful shoulder with significant restriction and loss of range of motion. Theories of frozen shoulder will be discussed as well as the causes and stages of frozen shoulder.

Professional Ethics for the Bodyworker – 2 CE hours
Students will explore the various situations that may arise in the therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner. Through case study, role playing and self-examination, students will develop skills to manage situations regarding boundary issues, personality conflicts, transference, counter-transference, diversity and appropriate relationships as they relate to the massage profession.

Stretching for Neck & Shoulders – 6 CE hours
In this seminar, we will discuss the principles and benefits of stretching as well as the dangers of improper stretching. Students will learn to integrate stretching into bodywork from a hands-on approach; the effects that stretching has on muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints; as well as knowledge for treating clients and self-care for the therapist.
