Transfer Program

Colleague Code: AES.ENGR

Curriculum Code: AES 101

Program Information:

  • Primarily designed for students seeking the AES degree for pursuit of civil, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
  • To complete the AES in two years, the calculus sequence (starting with MAT 131) should begin in the first semester. Students unprepared for MAT 131 should consider completing MAT 113 and MAT 120 during the summer term preceding their first fall semester at LLCC.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to investigate the specific course requirements for their particular transfer school of choice to ensure strong alignment with their course selections at LLCC.
  • Since completion of the AES degree does not complete the Illinois General Education core curriculum, students may need to complete the general education requirements of the school to which they transfer.
  • If you intend to complete only one course of a sequenced offering at LLCC (such as CHE 101/CHE 102 or PHY 201/PHY 202)and the latter at your transfer school, you run the risk of having to repeat some course(s) at your transfer school IF the content split in the sequence at LLCC varies enough from the content split at the transfer school.  Therefore, it might be in your best interest to finish out the sequence or not start the sequence, before transferring.

  • Check with your transfer school to see if microeconomics or if macroeconomics is their preferred Social Science elective.
  • Not all Civil Engineering Programs require ENG 270. If that is the case for you, consider taking another program elective in place of this class.
  • Some suggested program electives: a general education life science class; CHE 102; MAT 215; another general education Social Science, Humanities, or Fine Arts course.
  • Some transfer programs require CMN 104 in place of CMN 101.

Recommended Course Sequence:

First Semester:

CHE 101General Chemistry I

4

EGL 101Composition I

3

MAT 131Calculus and Analytic Geometry I

Students should check with their transfer school program to determine if microeconomics (ECO 131) or macroeconomics (ECO 132) is preferred for their social science selection.

Second Semester:

CMN 101Public Speaking Fundamentals

3

EGL 102Composition II

3

MAT 132Calculus and Analytic Geometry II

5

PHY 201Physics I

Check with your transfer engineering program to determine if CMN 104 is preferred in place of CMN 101.

Third Semester:

ENG 101Engineering Graphics

3

ENG 220Statics

3

MAT 161Computer Programming and Applications for Engineers

4

MAT 233Calculus and Analytic Geometry III

Program Course Selection

3

ENG 240 may be offered over the summer instead of the spring semester.

If the transfer Civil Engineering program does not require ENG 270, it should substituted with a Program Elective Recommendation.

Program Elective Recommendations: General Education Life Science or CHE 102 or MAT 215 or General Education humanities/fine arts selection. Please see your advisor for assistance.
