If you haven’t used Zoom before or only used it a limited capacity, we’re here to help! We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions.
How can I join the meeting?
If you have registered for the event, we will send you information on how to join the meeting via Zoom a few days prior to the event. The link included in the email will prompt you to either open, download or join Zoom from your browser. We ask that you include your FIRST and LAST name in the “Your Name” field.
How can I ask a question?
The breakout rooms will provide the perfect opportunity to ask questions! You can ask over audio or type your question in the box.
What are breakout rooms?
After the opening presentation, we will be using breakout rooms to allow you to get more information and ask questions in areas that are of interest to you. To get placed in a breakout room, just type in the chat box which room you would like to join. The first time you go to a breakout room, a pop-up window will invite you to join. When you want to leave the room, return to the main room to let us know which room you’d like to go to next. For the rest of the rooms you want to join, just let the host know which room you’d like to go to next. Then the host will add your name to that room. In your meeting controls, select Breakout Rooms, and click Join Breakout Room.
What happens if I accidentally leave the meeting?
No worries! Use the same link and password you originally used to get back in the meeting.
How to I adjust my audio and video?
In the meeting controls, there will be both audio and video options. You can also find your name in the participant list to mute and unmute your audio.
Having trouble with audio on your phone?
Go into your phone’s settings, and turn audio on for Zoom.
My audio is out of sync. Can it be fixed?
Sometimes the audio can get out of sync with the video. In the meeting controls, under the microphone icon, click on the arrow. Select Leave Computer Audio. Then click on the microphone icon again to Join Audio. This will often get the audio to sync with the video.
What is side-by-side view?
It’s a great option when presenters are sharing their screen or showing slides. It allows you to see the shared screen and the speaker, side-by-side!
Why do I not seem to have all the Zoom features/buttons?
Available features depends on device (desktop/laptop, tablet, smartphone) that you are using and the version of software.
