Key Program Features
Medical coding is one of the fastest growing professions in the current job market. Medical coders convert health diagnoses, procedures, medical services and equipment into universal medical codes and make sure they are applied correctly for medical billing purposes. LLCC Medical Coding includes CPT and ICD-10 coding along with human anatomy and physiology, medical insurance billing and an internship. Upon completion of the program, students may choose to receive professional certification in the medical coding field.
Program Information:
· Students are highly encouraged to take HLT 109 Medical Terminology prior to the start of the program.
· This certificate of study must be taken in its entirety to meet requirements.
· There is a part-time option in the MCS program; however, part-time study significantly increases the length of time required for completion. Meet with the Program Director to plan the part-time pathway.
Admission Requirements:
· Attend a mandatory informational session.
· Submit the LLCC Admissions Worksheet.
· Be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate.
· Complete HLT 109, Medical Terminology with a minimum grade of C within the last five years or during the first semester of the program.
· Possess a minimum GPA of 2.5.
· Send all high school and college transcripts to: Admissions and Office, Lincoln Land Community College, 5250 Shepherd Road, P.O. Box 19256, Springfield, IL 62794-9256.
· Meet with the program's student success coach.
· Submit a program application.
