Proof of IL Residency

Parent Proof of Illinois Residency

Dependent students selected for verification for the FAFSA must turn in proof of parent's IL residency to possibly be eligible for the State of IL MAP Grant. Some documents that could be submitted to the LLCC Financial Aid office to serve as proof of your parents' Illinois residency include, but are not limited to:

  • Illinois driver's license
  • Tax Return Transcript with Illinois address
  • Illinois voter's registration card
  • State of Illinois identification card issued by the Secretary of State
  • Utility or rent bills in the parent's name
  • Residential lease in the parent's name
  • Property tax bill
  • Illinois auto registration card
  • W-2
  • IRS form 1099-Miscellaneous Income Statements
  • Statement of benefits history from Illinois Department of Public Aid
  • Statement of benefits from the Illinois Department of Employment Security
  • Statement of benefits from the Social Security Administration

2024-2025 Student Proof of IL Residency

Independent students selected for verification for the 2024-2025 FAFSA (summer 2024, fall 2024, spring 2025) must turn in proof of IL residency to possibly be eligible for the State of IL MAP Grant. Some documents that could be submitted to the LLCC Financial Aid office to serve as proof of your Illinois residency include, but are not limited to:

  • Illinois driver's license issued before August of 2023.
  • Current Illinois auto registration card with an expiration date between Jan. 1, 2024 and Aug. 1, 2024.
  • State of Illinois identification card issued by the Secretary of State issued before August 2023.
  • 2022 W-2 (sent in January 2023)

The following items must be issued between January 2023 and the beginning of August 2023.

  • Utility or rent bills in the applicant's name
  • Residential lease in the applicant's name
  • Statement of benefits history from the Illinois Department of Public Aid
  • Statement of benefits history from the Illinois Department of Employment Security
  • Statement of benefits from the Social Security Administration
  • Illinois voter's registration card
  • Property tax bill
