Transfer Program

Colleague Code: AA.GEG

Curriculum Code: GEG 101

Program Information:

Geography gives us an understanding of the world. It demonstrates how the physical and human systems on our planet work and connect to maintain life. Geographers have specific and valuable skills to tackle important societal challenges facing our planet. Climate change, population pressures, geopolitical conflicts, and natural disasters all need the expertise of geographers. Studying geography gives students a solid foundation for any career, including strong skills in research, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing.

This suggested listing of courses fulfills the AA degree requirements and prepares students for transfer to four-year schools to pursue bachelor’s degrees in geography and other closely related majors.
  • This program is appropriate for those students interested in further study of Geography at a four-year institution.
  • Students pursuing a B.A. degree in this discipline should find this program will transfer as the first two years to most colleges and universities.
  • Students who intend to pursue a B.S. degree in this or related disciplines will usually need to begin or complete the general chemistry sequence (CHE 101 and CHE 102) and take General Physics I (PHY 101).
  • Since program requirements vary among the four-year schools, the courses listed are only suggested guidelines. Students are strongly encouraged to explore the specific program requirements of the four-year schools they are considering for their transfer, as they make their course selections for their first two years of study at LLCC. Additionally, LLCC advisors, faculty members, and deans are also sources of helpful advice.
