TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a program funded by the federal government to provide personalized, academic assistance to first-generation college students (students whose parents/guardians did not attend college) and/or students who meet certain federal income guidelines. LLCC’s TRIO program offers a number of resources, including one-on-one assistance in areas related to student success.
As a TRIO participant, you will have a TRIO advisor assigned to you. You will work with this advisor to map out your Academic Success Plan. TRIO is designed to encourage you to continue on your academic path, get good grades, graduate from LLCC with an associate degree, and transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
The TRIO program encompasses important services including academic advising, career counseling, cultural activities, financial aid application assistance, financial literacy workshops, transfer assistance and tutoring.
In order to participate in the TRIO program, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who meets certain eligibility requirements. One or more of these statements must be true for you:
- I will be the first in my family to complete a college degree.
- I qualify for federal financial aid.
- I have a documented disability.
- I plan to transfer to a four-year college or university.
Your first step in becoming a member of the TRIO program is completing the TRIO Application.
Please print out and return the application to the LLCC TRIO office located in the Enrollment Services area of Menard Hall, across from Admission and Registration. You may also mail the application to: LLCC TRIO Office, Menard Hall 1139, 5250 Shepherd Rd., Springfield, IL 62794.
