Students enrolled in the Business Associate in Applied Science Degree program are required to complete, BUS 275 - the Business Internship.

The internship experience offers students supervised work experience coordinated with a local employer. Students explore their career choice, apply theory, and identify additional learning needs.  Students are placed with a business relevant to their career aspirations and focus on relevant specializations for their degree.

The internship is completed during one of the last two semesters of their LLCC coursework. Prior to enrolling in BUS 275, students will have completed at least 12 credit hours in BUS courses at LLCC with a minimum GPA of 2.0 in each of the BUS courses.

To prepare for the internship, please email Professor Hovey a copy of your LoggerCentral transcript so hours and GPA can be verified. Start thinking about where you would like to complete an internship. This could be a location where you desire to work upon graduation.

Students must arrange a face-to-face meeting with Professor Hovey, BUS Internship Coordinator towards the start of the semester before the semester desired for the internship as it often can take a full semester to search for a location. For example, if the internship is desired for the spring semester, plan to meet with Professor Hovey in September or early October, at the latest.

This internship should provide real-life work experience that combines the efforts and resources of local employers with the academic components of the community college.

Before the Internship Experience

  • Login to LoggerCentral, create a copy of your transcript and then paste it into a Word document that is then saved and attached to an email to Professor Hovey.
  • Double-check that you have completed or are in the process of completing the majority of your BUS courses.
  • Locate an internship site. If you use your current employer, you will have to add to your current job responsibilities. The activities to be completed as part of your internship need to vary from those normally expected as part of your current employment.
  • With help from the LLCC Career Center, create or update your resume and cover letter.
  • Send your cover letter and your resume to the potential internship site.
