Chemistry is often called the “central science” because it connects the other branches of science. It focuses on matter – what substances compose it, their properties and how they interact. Chemistry helps those who study it understand the world around them. It covers a wide range of topics including the food we eat, the development of medical treatments, why leaves change color and even fireworks. LLCC’s chemistry program provides students a strong foundation with classroom and lab experience in contemporary, general and organic chemistry and prepares students for transfer to a four-year college or university.
