Vision statement

Every student will have their own success story.

Student success advising

Student Success Advising refers to a proactive, holistic approach to helping students navigate their academic and personal challenges to ensure they achieve their educational goals. The primary focus is on supporting students through various stages of their academic journey, from enrollment to graduation, and beyond.

Student Success Advisors work with students to co-create academic and educational plans that support students’ desired goals. They assist students with course selection and scheduling, transfer planning, and accessing academic and non-academic support.

Student success advising learning outcomes

By partnering with their advisor, students will:

  • Create and revise educational plans aligned with their academic and career goals.
  • Utilize complex information from various resources to establish goals, reflect on academic progress, and make decisions.
  • Know how to access available resources, including scheduling appointments with the student success advisor or other student support services such as learning resources, student care, career services, financial aid, etc.
  • Know how to navigate technology resources such as Logger Central, Canvas and MyScheduler to access course and academic program information.

Student success advisor responsibilities

LLCC student success advisors help students explore and create educational experiences and achieve their dreams and goals. In keeping with this student-centered approach, advisors:

  • Build supportive and inclusive advising relationships.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Help students to clarify values, goals, college policies and procedures.
