LLCC announces 2026 regional Academic Challenge winners

Approximately 140 students from nine area high schools competed in the regional Academic Challenge on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Lincoln Land Community College.

LLCC celebrates Women’s History Month in March

Lincoln Land Community College will honor Women’s History Month throughout March with a series of events celebrating women’s achievements, leadership and impact. This year’s national theme, “Leading the Change,” recognizes women who have shaped history and those who continue to champion progress in our communities. All events are free and open to the public and will take place in A. Lincoln Commons on LLCC’s Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.

LLCC to host Engineer in the Classroom for fifth graders

Fifth grade students will demonstrate their way to “Move a Car” in an engineering competition as LLCC hosts the 19th annual Springfield Area Engineer in the Classroom, a Rube Goldberg Showcase, on Saturday, March 7.

LLCC-Jacksonville offering industrial tech certificate

Starting in August 2026, Lincoln Land Community College in Jacksonville will launch a hands-on industrial technology certificate program designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in industrial maintenance. The program is open to the public, and LLCC-Jacksonville is partnering with Jacksonville Public Schools to offer the program as a College Now opportunity, allowing Jacksonville High School students to earn both high school and college credit.

LLCC’s Trutter Museum & Murray Gallery to feature “Underfoot” March 2-April 10

The Trutter Museum & Murray Gallery at Lincoln Land Community College will host the exhibit “Underfoot” featuring artwork by Illinois-based painter Kevin Veara March 2-April 10. The exhibit is open for viewing weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except during mid-semester break March 7-15. The museum and gallery are located on the upper level of Menard Hall on the LLCC Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.

Lincoln Land Community College will offer a selection of Professional Development Institute courses this spring at LLCC-Jacksonville, LLCC-Litchfield and LLCC-Taylorville Outreach Centers.

Lincoln Land Community College announced the 2026 royals during homecoming games on Wednesday, Feb. 11, capping off three days of activities.

LLCC selects Dr. Curt Oldfield as its next president

Curt Oldfield, Ed.D., was recently selected as the next LLCC president in a vote by the LLCC Board of Trustees. Confirmation of his employment is planned for the February LLCC Board meeting.

LLCC will host an information session on Monday, Feb. 23, 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the main campus in Springfield for current high school sophomores, juniors and their parents/guardians to learn more about earning college credit while in high school through College Now.
