Students must submit documentation verifying completion of the following requirements by the established deadline:
CPR certification
All students are required to be CPR certified. Accepted certifications are American Red Cross (professional rescuer) or American Heart Association (healthcare provider). Certifications from any other organization will not be accepted.
Drug screening
All students are required to complete a drug screening. Students who receive a positive drug screening result, including but not limited to marijuana, will not be permitted to remain in the program. Students taking medication that may result in a positive test should provide documentation from their physician.
Background check
All CMA students are also required to complete a background check through American DataBank (Complio). The background check is completed when the student creates a Complio account.

Required immunizations
Students are required to provide documentation showing they have met the following immunization requirements:
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR): Documentation of two MMR vaccinations or titer results demonstrating immunity to measles, mumps and rubella.
- Varicella (chickenpox): Documentation of a history of chickenpox, two varicella vaccinations or a positive varicella titer.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of three-dose series, a positive hepatitis B titer or a signed hepatitis B declination form. Students submitting a declination for medical reasons must also provide documentation from their physician.
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) or tetanus, diphtheria (Td): Documentation of Tdap or Td vaccination received within the past 10 years.
- Tuberculosis (TB): Documentation of a two-step skin test or QuantiFERON-TB Gold blood test completed before attending the clinical experience. Students with a previous positive skin test must provide documentation of a a chest X-ray. Testing may be completed through a local health department or healthcare provider.
- Influenza (flu): Students attending externship from October through April are required to have a flu vaccination before beginning their clinical externship.
