With pet ownership on the rise, the need for skilled veterinary assistants is in great demand. Veterinary assistants work directly with Veterinarians and veterinarian technicians in private practice, hospitals and clinics, animal shelters, animal control facilities, pet stores and kennels.
This course will introduce students to the science of veterinary medicine. Students will learn to care for sick and injured animals as well as learn client relations, office and hospital procedures, animal nursing, exam room practices, surgical preparations, laboratory processes and radiology and pharmacology terminology.
$26,140 per year or $12.57 per hour
Salary may vary depending on location, experience and hours.
Employment is expected to grow by 16,300 jobs by 2026.

Eligible candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Be proficient in English
- Have adequate understanding of 9th/10th grade algebra and arithmetic
