Today’s firefighter service is an all-hazards affair, ranging from emergency medical response to structural collapse and water rescue. Firefighters must be able to thrive under pressure and maintain a healthy physical fitness level to meet the demands of the job. LLCC Fire Science Technology provides students with proper skill training in several disciplines for safeguarding life and property utilizing hands-on experiences. Students also learn the safe management of hazardous materials and various rescue operations. Fire Science Technology has multiple promotional certificates for individuals who are affiliated with or employed in the fire service. There is also an option to complete the associate in applied science degree. Courses are recognized for certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for those eligible.

Cost

Fire Science classes have standard tuition rates. For the 2024-2025 academic year (fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025), these classes have an in-district rate of $140 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.
