Illinois National Guard Grant (ING)

How do I apply?

Students must apply for the Illinois National Guard Grant (ING) online through the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). Allow four weeks for the processing of your application. If no response has been received after the four weeks, contact ISAC at 1-800-899-4722.

ISAC will send a letter of eligibility to eligible guard members. Eligibility is limited to one school per semester. Students changing schools should get a new letter of eligibility with their new school listed.

In order to receive benefits, you must apply every year for the Illinois National Guard Grant. If eligible, students will receive the ING Grant for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. No tuition payments will be made on behalf of any eligible student unless a current year letter of eligibility is on file.

Effective with the 2023-24 academic year, there are no longer priority consideration dates by which ING Grant applications must be submitted each term. ING Grant applications must be received by ISAC in time for eligibility to be determined and the applicant to then notify the college about their eligibility no later than the last scheduled day of classes for the first term for which benefits have been requested.

Note: Students are responsible for paying all tuition and fees until approved by ISAC.

How do I use my Illinois National Guard Grant to pay my tuition?

After the application is processed, ISAC will send an eligibility letter to you. You must submit a copy of this letter to the LLCC Veterans Affairs Office.
