SPRINGFIELD — Bistro Verde, Lincoln Land Community College’s student-led café, will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8 and will serve customers Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The café will be open as Bistro To Go, a counter service concept, from Sept. 8-Oct. 8, offering soups, salads, sandwiches, weekly student chef specials, baked goods, coffees and drinks. From Sept. 8-18, Bistro Verde will participate in the Chicago Gourmet Dine Around event, offering a raspberry and orange salad and pineapple refresher for $14. Guests who spend $50 or more in one purchase at Bistro To Go are eligible to enter to win a VIP weekend at Chicago Gourmet.
From Oct. 27-Dec. 3 (closed Nov. 10 and 24-26), the café transforms into Bistro Verde, a casual, dine-in restaurant experience. The full-service lunch features appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, featured weekly student chef prix fixe menu, desserts, coffees and drinks. All are prepared from scratch using high-quality ingredients and finished with creative flair. Reservations are recommended.

In the LLCC Hospitality and Culinary Arts program, part of a student’s learning experience is to run a working café that is open to the public. LLCC offers an associate in applied science degree in culinary arts and in hospitality management. Professional certificates offered include first cook, culinary manager, baking and pastry, hospitality professional and hospitality supervisor. The college also offers non-credit cooking and baking classes, as well as dinners at Bistro Verde through LLCC Community Education.
