LLCC to host award-winning poet March 20

SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College will host award-winning poet brittny ray crowell for a micro-workshop, reading and book signing on March 20 from noon to 2 p.m. in the lower level of The Learning Center at LLCC, Sangamon Hall, 5250 Shepherd Rd., Springfield.

As part of her visit, she will read works from “Cord Swell” her first full-length poetry collection that contains poems and stories through the lives of three generations of Black women.

Crowell is an assistant professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, where she teaches courses in poetry and composition. She is a recipient of the Inprint Donald Barthelme Prize in Poetry and the Lucy Terry Prince Prize. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

There will be a limited number of copies of the book available for a book signing. Crowell will also entertain a question-and-answer session.

The event is sponsored by the LLCC Humanities, Arts, Communication and English Department.
