SPRINGFIELD — Jaclyn Tabor, Ph.D., instructional designer and instructor of sociology at Lincoln Land Community College, has been recognized by Instructure with the 2026 Outstanding Course Award, part of their Academic Excellence Awards.

The award honors exceptional achievements in education and recognizes the impact of innovative teaching practices that enhance student learning.

Dr. Tabor’s online, 16-week introduction to sociology course was selected for its cutting-edge PANDA module architecture, accessibility-centered course design and inclusive, AI-resilient assessment practices. Developed to serve a diverse student population with varying academic backgrounds, learning preferences and schedules, the course provides a structured learning experience through scaffolded weekly modules.

As part of her recognition, Tabor was invited to attend InstructureCon, held in Louisville, Ky., July 21-23, 2026, where awardees were recognized for their dedication, ingenuity and impact.

“Dr. Tabor’s commitment to innovative, student-centered learning exemplifies the excellence we strive for at Lincoln Land Community College,” said Dr. Joel Dykstra, associate vice president of academic support. “This recognition highlights her dedication to creating accessible and engaging educational experiences that meet the needs of today’s learners.”

Tabor has been an instructional designer at LLCC since August 2025. She received her Ph.D. and master’s degree in sociology from Indiana University. She has bachelor’s degrees in sociology and women’s studies from Purdue University.
