SPRINGFIELD — The Lincoln Land Community College Humanities, Arts, Communication and English Department will host a free, virtual Corequisite English Collaborative on Friday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to noon via Zoom.

The collaborative is designed for current and prospective corequisite English teachers, support staff and administrators who work with faculty teaching corequisite English courses.

This interactive gathering will invite participants to explore and discuss the integration of generative AI literacy, information literacy, media literacy and digital literacy within corequisite English contexts.

The program will feature a keynote address by Joanne Baird Giordano, assistant associate dean for English, linguistics and writing studies at Salt Lake Community College and chair of the Two-Year College English Association, followed by four breakout sessions focusing on:
•    Faculty mentorship and support
•    Embedded tutoring and additional student supports
•    Centering meaningful writing to deter unsanctioned generative AI use
•    Leveraging the support course to deepen student expertise

Registration is available online at https://bit.ly/corequisite.

For more information, contact Corrine Hinton, dean, LLCC Humanities, Arts, Communication and English, at corrine.hinton@llcc.edu, 217-786-2798.

The collaborative is funded by an Advancing Developmental Education Reform project grant from the Illinois Community College Board.
