SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College invites families to celebrate science at Spring into Science on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5:30-8 p.m. on the second floor of Sangamon Hall at the LLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.
This free, family-friendly event is open to children of all ages when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Check-in will take place in A. Lincoln Commons.
Designed as a spring-themed counterpart to LLCC’s popular Haunted Lab, Spring into Science will feature hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations and engaging learning experiences that highlight the science behind the natural world.
Families can explore stations focused on flowers and plants, including flower dissections, and will have the opportunity to plant a flower to take home. Students can “Learn to be a Bander” at a bird banding demonstration. Marine biology activities will include a touch tank and a saltwater scavenger hunt. Additional attractions will feature chemistry demonstrations, interactive science activities and other explorations connected to spring and scientific discovery. Weather permitting, attendees can also enjoy a prairie walk, offering a chance to learn more about native Illinois ecosystems and seasonal changes.
The Spring into Science event is sponsored by the LLCC Natural and Agricultural Sciences Department and the LLCC Chemistry and Biology Clubs.
