SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College in Litchfield will host an open-house style event to celebrate the fascinating world of honeybees at Bee Day, a free, family-friendly event on Tuesday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LLCC-Litchfield, 1 Lincoln Land Drive.
The event welcomes participants of all ages to explore the vital role bees play in our environment through interactive, educational experiences. Guests can come and go at their own pace while engaging in a variety of hands-on activities.
Event activities include:
- Observing bees safely up close in an observation hive
- Exploring the inner workings of a live beehive
- Sampling locally produced honey from Central Illinois
- Participating in a fun, interactive activity about pollen and pollination
- Meeting and talking with local beekeepers
- Opportunities to adopt or re-adopt a beehive
No registration is required, but attendees who wish to inspect the live beehive should wear long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
College for Kids is offering some bee-themed camps as well as other camps that spark curiosity through hands-on experiences at LLCC-Litchfield this summer.

Thanks to the W.D. Kilton Foundation, students from Montgomery County (up to 12 per camp) can use LITCHFIELD26 at checkout to receive free tuition. Each code is good for one camp per student.
