SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College Workforce Institute students Daniel Welchel, of Lincoln, and Tamara Rahman, of Rochester, placed in the top five of their respective categories at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Atlanta, Ga., June 1-5, 2026.
Welchel placed fourth out of eight competitors in the Heavy Equipment Operation category. Raham placed fifth out of 24 competitors in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) category.
The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference is the largest gathering of America’s future skilled workforce and ultimate recognition of excellence in career and technical education. The conference hosts more than 19,000 attendees each year with thousands of state champions competing for national medals in more than 115 skilled leadership trades.
