SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter Honor Society received chapter, team and individual recognitions at the PTK Regional Convention and Honors Institute at Parkland College in Champaign May 30-June 1.
The chapter was honored for maintaining its Five Star Chapter status, the highest level of achievement a chapter can earn, for 12 consecutive years. The chapter was also recognized as a Top 100 Chapter and Outstanding Chapter, and received awards for Outstanding Honors in Action Project and Outstanding College Project.
Individual LLCC chapter members honors included: Zorah Austin of Virden, Leader of Distinction; Katie Angulo of Girard, Hall of Honor Officer; and Ryan Roberts of Williamsville, Outstanding Chapter Advisor. Austin, Angulo, Braden Nicoll and Hannah Shoemaker of Springfield, Jessica Gibson of Pleasant Plains and Lexie Ebersohl of Petersburg were recognized as an Outstanding Officer Team.
LLCC officers in attendance were Shoemaker, Gibson, Austin, Nicoll and Ebersohl, as well as new chapter officers Andrew Sample of Edinburg and Addison Patrick of Chatham.
LLCC’s PTK chapter is advised by Dr. Gillian Bauer, professor of English, and Roberts, professor/librarian. The purpose of the chapter is to recognize and encourage scholarship, develop leadership, cultivate fellowship and promote service to the community and LLCC. The honor society is open to LLCC students who have completed 12 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
