LLCC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognized at regional conference

SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society received chapter, team and individual recognitions at the PTK Regional Convention and Honors Institute at Heartland Community College in Normal, May 29-31.

The Alpha Epsilon Kappa chapter was honored for maintaining its Five Star Chapter status, the highest level of achievement a chapter can earn, for 13 consecutive years. The chapter also received an award for Outstanding College Project.

The chapter was also recognized for individual and team accomplishments, including Addison Patrick of Chatham, Hall of Honor Officer; advisor Ryan Roberts, of Springfield, Outstanding Chapter Advisor; and Roberts and Dr. Gillian Bauer, Most Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team.

LLCC members and officers in attendance were Patrick, as well as Andrew Sample of Edinburg, Shandyll Coble of Bastrop, Jessica Gibson of Pleasant Plains, Melane Wiediger of Athens, Micah Smith of Kincaid and Lillian Stark, Josh Sellers, Braden Nicoll and Ali Higginson of Springfield.

LLCC’s PTK chapter is advised by Bauer, professor of English, and Roberts, professor/librarian and interim dean of The Learning Center at LLCC. The purpose of the chapter is to recognize and encourage scholarship, develop leadership, cultivate fellowship and promote service to the community and LLCC. The honor society is open to LLCC students who have completed 12 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
