HELPrS

HELPrS. Healthcare Entry-Level Professional Skills. Lincoln Land Community College.

What is LLCC's HELPrS program?

The Healthcare Entry-Level Professional Skills (HELPrS) program is an immersive, two-week summer program designed for high school juniors and seniors or recent graduates ages 16-20. We will meet Mondays-Thursdays, noon to 4:30 p.m. (5 p.m. on job shadowing days) from June 10-June 20, 2024. You will explore health care professions both on and off campus, learn about college life and develop important professional skills needed in the health care workforce.

During your two weeks at LLCC, you will:

  • See if college-level coursework is for you without worrying about grades. You will be introduced to LLCC and several health professions in a small setting of 16 participants. This program is non-credit, so you can experience learning at the college without pressure.
  • Learn valuable professional skills you can take with you. You will be challenged to become more aware of and to practice professional skills that lead to success in health care clinical settings. You can take these skills anywhere you decide to go as they are useful in almost any job.
  • Discover your health care niche. Find what really may be the best fit for you — whether you are undecided or already have a health profession you are interested in. You will be exploring multiple health care programs at LLCC and various departments in real health care settings. Job shadowing is a great way to see what a career will be like before you commit.
