SPRINGFIELD — Lincoln Land Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society officer team attended the PTK Regional Leadership Conference at Rock Valley College in Rockford Oct. 7-9. 

Team members included: Luke Adams of Athens, Joey Gallo of Jacksonville, AJ Colletti and Joshua Hughes of Springfield, and Jesse Dees of Sherman.

At the conference, Hughes, LLCC’s chapter president, gave the presentation “I Am Phi Theta Kappa: How About You?” about marketing the chapter to potential members. Students learned about leadership and networking skills through group activities and presentations. 

LLCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter is advised by Dr. Gillian Bauer, professor of English. The honor society is open to LLCC full-time students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average or above. The chapter has maintained five star status, the highest status available, within the Phi Theta Kappa organization since 2013.

Phi Theta Kappa is the foremost honor society recognizing academic excellence in two-year college students. Its goals include promoting scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service. Benefits of membership include access to Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.
